DOGHOUSE DERELICTS' MUSICAL EVOLUTION

First starting to record together in 2014, Dave Budgen and Tim Hutton deliberately steered away from the reggae, ska, and drum & bass influences of The Dub Pistols, the group they were formerly members of. Delving into genres as diverse as Americana and swampy country, hip hop and 70’s rock, they gradually arrived at their current style: electronica, post punk, stoner rock, baggy, and funk. They both have serious chops in that area: Budgen with the Freestylers, the Dub Pistols, and his projects Buddhist Punkz and Jagged Hedz, and Hutton who as well as his own releases, wrote extensively with Groove Armada and Ian Brown among others, plus wrote the hook for and sang on the huge Prodigy hit 'Omen'.

With a long history of performing with their own bands and other artists behind them, the two (with the help of Joel Dowson and Liam Earp) started playing Doghouse Derelicts material live in 2019, appearing at Glastonbury Festival in 2023. “The live thing is a big part of who we are, and we keep our set up to scratch. With the new album 'Method 2 Madness' dropping soon we’re embracing the live element," says Budgen. “We cannot wait.” The first single from the album, 'Drugs', was released on 22/08/24 and featured remixes by Leeroy Thornhill and Kouncilhouse, with second single 'Bag It Up' released on November 14th with remixes by Zero B and Guiseppe Morena.
